UK & Ireland Online Birth Adoption Contact Register Launched

NOTTINGHAM, UK – 4/2/2002 09:00 GMT – Missing Links UK, in association with LookupUK.com (Lookup United Kingdom), has today officially launched its online UK Birth Adoption Contact Register.

“We are proud to be able to offer a facility which has been sorely needed for UK Adoptees and Birth Parents. Many people have asked us for a site like this, so here it is.”

“The reason we started the site, other than to answer many user requests, is to fill a void. The English government has a mail only register, and is now asking for 30 pounds for a birth family member to register! Also, the government is proposing to restrict access to certain information contained on English & Welsh birth, death & marriage certificates. These restrictions will make it more difficult to trace natural family. ”

The new site allows instant searching of all registered users. Current identifiable information is only provided once the site managers have independently verified a match, and with the consent of the original party. There is a small one-time registration fee of £10.

Missing Links UK, owned and managed by Alan Collin,s was launched in November 2000. It is an up and coming UK website, which continues to grow both in success and popularity, offering confidential advice and assistance to all Adopted People and Birth Parents searching for each other.

The Registers’ co-owner, Paul Field, an adoptee himself, is a well-known name on the message boards and Internet sites related to finding lost friends and relatives in the USA and UK. He has single-handedly been responsible for locating over ten thousand people in his seven years as a searcher. LookupUK.com has grown to be the largest UK & Ireland search site for missing relatives and friends. Paul grew up on the Isle of Wight, and later lived in Southampton. He currently lives in New Jersey, USA with his wife and children. The company has extensive experience creating UK related web sites. Among others, they recently developed the new online home of “The Walford Gazette”, which is the United State’s semi-official EastEnders fan newspaper.
